Ok what is the best all in one wash/wax. I want something for my weekly wash that will leave a waxed finish.

well probably the best wash and wax in the shops is meguiars gold class, but i would wash and then wax the car a couple of times , the wax coat should last for 3 to 4 months before it wants waxing again
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/megui ... d_100.html
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-a ... d_423.html

the dodo juice range excellent as well but even using dodo (which i do ) i would wax the car seperatly then wash the car every time it has been out, but i have a bit of a cleaning disorder
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo- ... d_491.html
http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/wax/dodo- ... at_59.html

thens there always this wax
http://www.astratwintop.net/anyone-inte ... t1053.html

rl nothing will wax the car whilst it is being washed

I take my car to my local hand wash station and they know what not to do when washing the TT.
As for waxing the car i use Autoglym kit but was wondering if the Meguiars was better ?

Just purchased Auto Glym high definition wax for £29.99 from my local market
Had it on order for 3 weeks
tried it on one panel, so far so good
will report back and take photos when i have time to wax the whole car
The finish i am looking for is a glass reflection and as i understand could take a few applications to achieve.

Hi courvault,
I have used the Auto Glym high definition wax on mine and the results are outstanding, very easy to apply, just go easy as it only needs the tiniest amount on the applicator. Try putting on Auto Glym Ultra Deep Shine on first before the wax if you want a true glass reflection.

Dear all,

I think we may have different needs to reflect/protect our various car colours and the paint materials used, depending on whether we have metallic finishes or not.

Having to protect my chosen "solid" colour of "Power Red" from going pink with age and oxidisation I sent off to California for a nano sealant which I applied at the end of the first week's ownership in 2007. To get this right the car has to be the cleaniest of clean in clean-car-land as effectively you are "sealing in" the best finish you have managed to achieve at that time.

Thereafter you do not really need to wash and wax that often, purely using soft water (ideally Lake District/Manchester tap water) to wash away any dust and dirt and to restore/(i.e. get back to) the sealed coating.

If you don't live in a soft water area then a really good value alternative (available on eBay in recent months) is the full Autoglym kit which involves a few additional procedures to keep away white/pink residues.

(The kit is supposedly worth a couple of hundred pounds (RRP) but in these times it is commonly going for a fraction of RRP).

Typically the Autoglym kit contains:-

A 120ml Gloss Protectant

B 2x 325ml Upholstery & Carpet Protector

C 50ml Glass Guard

D 120ml Screen wash Booster

plus 2 Perfect Polishing Cloths

also you get (in a holdall)

Car Care (an expert guide)

325ml Super Resin Polish

325ml Extra Gloss Protection

500ml Bodywork Shampoo & Conditioner

500ml Vinyl & Rubber Care

500ml Custom Wheel Cleaner

325ml Car Glass Polish

500ml Interior Shampoo

500ml Quick Clear Screenwash

Aqua Dry Leather

Box of Bird Dropping Wipes

Box of 8 Perfect Polishing Cloths

Autoglym Sponge

(All in the holdall)

Top tip - Every eBay listing is slightly different so check the combined price variation in "Buy it Now"/P&P prices before bidding

Have a good weekend and get that car gleaming!

P2

I'll have to try some of that Courvault as I've used the normal wax on mine and it went on quite easy and water sat on it really well, gave a great shine.

hiya
i have used autoglym for my car and have never had any trouble,
i have an ultra blue twintop and i would really recomend the ultra deep shine polish if you have a darker colour car, it takes out any tiny scraches and leaves it looking perfect and also takes the swirls out of the paintwork.
i had the bag brought for me and just keep replacing thing when the run run, halford have a 3 for 2 on it at the moment so have been stocking up if not look on ebay there a company on there that deosnt charge for postage and its slighty cheaper than inthe shops

Oh, forgot to mention
me and the wife are going to have a race to see which car is the fastest
VW TDI-150 BHP
OR
ASTRA CDTI TT-150 BHP
I think the VW will win because it weighs less than the TT
I will post a new thread on this topic.

my personal favorite is dodo juice born to be mild shampoo and dodo supernatural iroko phase 2.
being as no one mentioned it so far... finish and durability of a wax is 90% preparation 10% product.

in other words claying the car and polishing with at the very least a mild abrasive (auto glym super resin for example) before waxing. also the wax should be allowed to cure fully before being buffed to maximise the life of the wax layer.

i have a pretty lengthy 'how to' that i wrote for my more regular forum if anyone is interested?
